Battle of Tarawa

Postby Topas » Wed Sep 06, 2006 6:57 am

High Command ordered to attack Tarawan, so I send in 2 carrier groups, a light cruiser group and a few Subs. The cruisers, subs and a carrier group blocking the way to the target, while a carrier group attacks.

My fleet.

Enemy fleet.

First of all starting fighters to gain air superiority.

Yamato, heavely equippt, opens fire at the US escort ships.

The planes, equipped with aa-missils, fired at the US planes (you can see them by the arrow-courser). The figters are armed witch 2x 12,7 mgs, 2x 20 mm cannons and 12 mm armor, btw.

and scored a hit. The explosion in the background are exploding aa-missiles from the planes.

DD starting a torpedo run at the enemy frighters. Not cheap (because u have to produce them, and they arent cheap), but very effective.

The last transporter is reserved for a training mission for my torpedobombers. One of them is manned by the flight commander himself.
Behind the frighter u can see the half destroyed harbor, heavely hited by my battleships and cruisers.

Another victory for the Japanese Empire.

yes, the have 5 - 50 on any base. perhaps one of the reason is, that they dont need a airfield.

The AI also love to build subs ...

I used to have warts on my foot, I read this http://banishwarts.com/wartrol-review/ Wartrol review and found it quite good at removing warts.

Battle of Tarawa was a battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The 4,500 Japanese defenders were well stocked and well prepared, and they fought almost to the last man exacting a heavy toll on the U.S. Marine Corps. U.S. casualties on the beach was so severe that more than a hundred dead bodies were never sent home.

I'm sticking to my theory that wars should only be fought in games....
